The subject of today’s tirade is Mariah Carey.
Ms. Carey claims in the November 9th issue of US Magazine that her magnificent new body is a result of her “easy day-by-day plan that you can do” (emphasis mine).
I call, “Bullshit.”
Her plan is for-sure easy, but you and I can’t do it unless we’ve got some bank and a plastic surgeon willing to attend our c-section.
Because, without any doubt in my mind, whatsoever, Mariah Carey most definitely had a tummy tuck.
Probably right there in the OR during her C-Section. What could be easier than that?
Her tummy wasn’t that flat and her belly button looked nothing like that before she was pregnant:
The belly we’re supposed to swallow, hook, line and sinker:
I can promise you beyond a shadow of a doubt that, after a purported weight gain of somewhere around 70lbs, with TWINS, that Mariah Carey’s belly did not get flatter and more attractive afterwards.
I’m not just bitter.
I’m a labor and delivery RN with 20+ years of experience. I’ve seen a bazillion post-partum bellies, and no woman who’s gained as much as Carey did, with twins, has a belly that looks like that 3 months afterwards without surgical intervention.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t begrudge Mariah her tummy tuck. Far from it. I say, “Whatever you gots to do is what you gots to do, baby!” I’m not against any plastic surgery.
What does piss me off, royally, is that she’s shilling for Jenny Craig, and in the article, which really isn’t anything more than an advertisement for Jenny Craig, Carey credits Jenny Craig (and working out three days a week) for her new body.
This is just plain and simple FRAUD.
This is exactly the sort of crap that makes women feel badly about themselves.
Here is this silly woman parading an ideal, that isn’t remotely possible, in front of the rest of us. Worse, we’re told that “we can do it too.”
We can’t. And neither did she.

Preach it. I gained 60lbs with ONE child and know what it did to my body. Girlfriend had work.
Yes ma’am, she most certainly had work.

Echoing what Texanna said. My body is still showing the wear and tear (20 years later) of having gained 53 lbs during pregnancy. And I did lose it all in 12 months but things were NOT the same.

Robin recently posted..How do you respond to someone whom you believe is doing things wrong?
I gained 62lbs with Rachel and lost it all by 6 weeks and my body is not the same. And neither is hers. Hers has been surgically altered.
Is tummy #2 even really hers? It wouldn’t be the first time someone got a ‘tummy tuck’ via the wonders of airbrushing and/or Photoshop.
That’s a really good point. It doesn’t look real at all, does it? Who knows?
As I said, if this wasn’t a commercial for some diet plan, masquerading as a magazine article, I wouldn’t hardly even care. But since she is crediting this body to a diet plan, then I think it needs to be called out.
I was SHOCKED after my first baby and only gaining less than 30 pounds that my body didn’t bounce back to pre-baby and I looked 5 months pregnant. Now 13 years after my 5 child, no matter how many sit-ups I do and how many hours I spend climbing at a 30 percent incline on the treadmill…my belly likes to hang down like a flabby piece of meat

I’ve seen some miraculous bellies without a mark on them. Usually in tall women with small babies.
Mariah Carey had nearly 11lbs of baby in her belly. I’ve never once seen a woman with an 11lb baby not have a stretch mark or a sag. Not once.
My mom was an L&D nurse in Santa Barbara and can attest that several celebrities had non-medically necessary c-sections and were sewn up by plastic surgeons who were standing by.

Thank you, Lorri! I have worked with one physician who was giving his patients tummy-tucks after their C-sections. I don’t think he was doing that good of a job of it, but he was doing it.
It makes me so angry the way celebrities treat child birth. Having unnecessary c-sections and even inducing as early as 32-36 weeks so that they won’t have stretchmarks and scars. If they’re so concerned about their bodies maybe they should adopt? It makes me doubly mad though, that we’re being fed this drivel of how she got her body back.
I gained a whopping 32 pounds with my daughter and by my 6 week check up had lost 37 pounds. I work out five days a week, and even after four years my stomach doesn’t look anything like what she’s claiming hers looks like.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who called bullshit on that article.

Well there’s this part too.
A baby is not a trendy accessory!
Yup nice when celebrities try to be make it sound like it was no big deal to get back in shape, they did not have to DO anything special and are just like the rest of us mommas. Way to go since it can go a long way to making women feel like crap about themselves when they hold onto the weight even with working out and a good diet or are simply normal and their body takes time to readjust. Pffftt. I wish she would say it was hard as hell, she worked, worked, worked and had loads of paid support.
It really ticks me off.
A real new mom of twins doesn’t have time to go to a gym three days a week.
I resent that she’s selling a product and making promises that can’t be true.
I agree – false advertising – just be honest about how you got there whether by very hard daily work, cosmetic surgery or both. I think women would appreciate the truth of it.
That’s it. If it takes cosmetic surgery then admit it. Or don’t say anything. But don’t go on a magazine cover and tell me lies. And especially don’t go telling me lies about some expensive diet plan.
Women are so hard on themselves. You guys are your own worst enemies.

Well, I don’t know about twins, but my tummy was back to normal around 8-10 weeks after having my kiddies (my hips and thighs however… well that’s another story)
I gained 20kg with each of them and had lost it all withing the first 3 months – not sure how many pounds that is though? But I was in my early 20′s, and did not have twins.
I do see what you mean about the belly button though!
I have seen women look like they were never pregnant at all right after delivery. It does happen. I just do not believe that this is what happened for Mariah Carey. And it isn’t her fault. 11lbs of baby is a lot of baby. And the pressures on women to have children but never show any signs that they’ve had children are immense.
My sister had 9+lb babies and didn’t get stretchmarks. It can and does happen.
It’s funny…..the first pic her belly button looks like an… inny.
The second pic…her belly button looks like an… outy…doesn’t it?
I have never experienced pregnancy. Can THAT happen?
(shrug)
Pregnancy can surely change a belly button, but I’ve never seen a pregnancy make a belly button look like it’s had plastic surgery.
Well said, Chloe. And that belly button is a dead give away. For a woman who has had multiples, a tummy tuck might be the only way to have a “normal” stomach, but I’m not a fan of the tummy tuck aesthetic…If I had to choose between my somewhat gooshy tummy with a few faded stretch marks and having that oddly tight stomach with a bizarre looking belly button, I choose the goosh!
Yeah, the belly button tells all.
I don’t blame her one minute if she had a tummy tuck. I wanted to have one myself. All my stretch marks are around my belly button.
I went to the plastic surgeon for a consult. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough skin to do a proper tummy tuck. I’d end up with an inverted T incision from hip bone to hip bone and up to the belly button.
Well, there’s no way that would look better than what I’ve got going on. The only purpose of having a tummy tuck would be to look good naked or in a bikini. If they can’t give me that then there isn’t any point.
I’ll just have to live with the goosh.
I carried both my babies way out front – so much that at four months people started asking when I was due. I know what my stomach looks like now and there is no way she could carry twins and not have some stretching.
I worry for female celebrities these days – it seems that they are afraid to show wrinkles, grey hair, post baby tummies, a little fat jiggle, – in other words any sign of aging beyond 25. That is not healthy for them or any one else.
Life leaves marks and whilst I am not ecstatic about my tummy fold, I’d rather have that and two children than a perfect flat belly.
Oh…just wait until she’s 70, like me. I had three kids — 8-1/2 pounds, 9-1/4 pounds, and 10-1/2 pounds. Gained 20 with the first, LOST weight with the second, gained about 30 with the third. At no time was my non-preggers weight over 150 pounds (I’m 5’10″) I have a tummy fold, droopy boobs, turkey neck, and a bazillion crow’s feet, and I don’t give a damn. Plastic surgery can NOT fight gravity, I don’t care what anyone says. I’m healthy as a horse, active, happy, enjoying however many years I have left. And devil take the hindmost!
I have been working out for one year, doing cardio and toning classes five days a week and my post baby body is nowhere near hers. I say be up front with what you do, there is no shame in honesty. If celebrities had a pinch of honesty then real women wouldn’t have body issues.
Exactly.
I don’t care what she’s done, but don’t tell me lies.
And good for you for the work you’ve done.
Celebrities are fraud. There image can turn into reality. They prone into fake life that they used to be. Also on their image that we can saw and heard. It must be in reality that we can conquer things without imagination.

Okay, I’m a Mariah fan as well but I’m not so obsessed with Mariah to believe everything that comes out of her mouth, You can tell she had a Tummy Tuck by the way her belly button looks . Her Belly Button is perfectly round and flat, her belly button wasn’t even perfectly flat and round before she got pregnant, even when she had slimmed down in the past her Belly Button was never perfectly round and flat it was more like an oval shape.
You having twins is not going to give you a perfectly round, flat and also higher belly button, they have to remove your belly button and place it in a higher position by cutting a hole into the upper part of your stomach and pushing your old belly button up through it that’s why they always end up looking so round and flat and the onlooker can always tell once they know what to look for .
And also, if the fans will remember … Mariah had a beauty mark on her stomach to her left… where is it at now ? Don’t tell me she covered it up with make-up ….. cause she never covered it up before, so where is it at now hmmmmm . I’ll tell you where it’s at, it’s in the trash can with all the other left over skin .
There is NOTHING wrong with getting a Tummy Tuck whatsoever but please DON’T lie about it . Her lying about it makes her look like a disingenuous FAKE person and at the same time insults everyone elses intelligence because … she actually expects people to be stupid enough to believe her . It also makes me wonder what else she has blatantly lied about ( Emineme anyone ) .
If this proves anything it proves Mariah cares more about her looks than she does taking care of “Dem babies” I mean it’s not even like she had been raising them for a period of time and just needed a break from it all she hadn’t even been raising them long enough to be sooo tired that she just had to have a break and retreat to a Spa . Wait till they hit the terrible 2 phase then she can talk about needing a damn break at a Spa .
Instead of giving Jenny props for her figure she needs to be giving her Plastic Surgeon some props cause it looks like he worked a miracle on her ass . If I had a Tummy Tuck after twins I wouldn’t lie about it I would be telling everyone where I got it done and who did it.
And if I wanted to be able to lie about it … I’d make sure to tell the doc to not place my belly button too high and I’d also ask the Doc if there was a way he could NOT make my belly button look so damn round and flat because that is one of the tale-tale signs that someone has had one done .
To all the Mariah fans out there that don’t believe she’s had anything done I challenge you to go look at Tummy tuck pictures of women and men that have had tummy tucks and look at their belly buttons then look at Mariah’s belly button and tell me her Belly button doesn’t look just like their does . Like I said, I like Mariah too but just because I’m a fan doesn’t mean I’m so into her my brains have fallen out .
Ok ladies, I had 2 children, my first at the age of 18 and my tummy was squishy afterwards, and my 2nd child at the age of 23 who weighed 11lbs 15oz, my tummy was so huge people thought I was carrying twins, and now my tummy is really squishy.
Its not impossible to get your tummy bulge down, try doing Power 90, P90x and then Insanity, and then tell me if your tummy hasn’t improved.
Even though I say its not impossible to get your tummy down, I believe its IMPOSSIBLE to get your tummy as flat as Mariahs and as Stretchmark free as Mariahs after having twins. She got a tummy tuck.
