“So how about that vaginal moisturizer review, huh? Where the hell is it, Chloe? You promised us a review of our product if we sent you a 10-day sample, and so far you’ve given us bupkis.“* All true. As a product-reviewer I suck. But Hyalo GYN®, the product I was given to review, doesn’t suck. [...]
When I’m not blogging, I am a Registered Nurse who has worked over 20 years in women’s healthcare. Currently, I am a labor and delivery nurse working in a small, rural hospital in California.
Over the course of my career, I have helped over 2,000 women give birth in every setting from dirt floor to high-tech, high-risk hospital. Prior to becoming an RN, I was a lactation counselor and a doula.
I do have a couple of posts that I’ve written about birth, but these days I’m more interested in the other side of the female life cycle, peri- and post-menopause. This is the part of the blog where I write about all things vagina.
“Don’t you dare take out my ovaries! If I wake up without them, there will be hell to pay.” These were the last words I uttered on March 28th before the anesthesiogist injected the quieting milk of amnesia (aka propofol for you Michael Jackson fans) into my IV, thus sending me off to dreamland and [...]
Dear Chloe, I have an embarrassing problem. I am 52, and have been happily married for 18 years. Lately my vagina seems drier than it used to be and, after sex, I’m having burning and a feeling of raw soreness. Is there something wrong with me, and what can I do about this? Signed, Parched [...]
Today I’m going to talk about sex toys for women. I hope you’ll stick around–especially if the topic is uncomfortable for you–but if not then I’ll see you back next week when I’ll be continuing the Love Story of Jeff and Chloe. I’ll be using some truly terrible drawings to help capture the precious moment [...]
A couple of days ago I told you that I am going to undergo pelvic reconstruction surgery. Today I’m going to discuss this decision with you, indepth and personal. I’m going to talk about things that you might not want or need to know. That’s okay. Come back another time. ******** It is estimated that 30-40% [...]
First of all: Have a Million Billion Bucks. ******** This last month or so has been a dizzying round of doctors’ appointments. I’m beginning to think that maybe my warranty is about to expire. Two weeks ago, I had to see the skin doctor because I had this strange bump on my face that wouldn’t [...]
As part of a series I’m writing on female urogenital problems, today I’m going to talk about the importance of pelvic floor rehabilitation exercises, i.e. kegeling. The first time I wet my pants was right after my son was born. Ten pounds of bouncing baby boy passing through my tiny lady parts left me joyful, [...]
The other day I was chatting with my friend Steve–may his blog rest in peace–and he suggested that I ought to tighten up my blog and focus on something. We got to talking about things I could focus on and when he found out that I’m a labor and delivery nurse with 20+ experience in childbirth [...]
Other than some veiled references about my day job that pays for those dinners at Le Jules Verne, I don’t think I’ve so much as whispered here on my blog what I really do for a living. For those who don’t know, I’m a Labor and Delivery RN. I don’t talk about my job mostly because I [...]
