Warning: this blog post has no real point. And I’m trying to get my seasonal affective disorder meds balanced before the onslaught of winter, so it just might not make a whole lot of sense either. You’ve been warned. I’ve been working too much. For those who don’t know, I’m a labor and delivery RN. […]
When I’m not blogging, I am a Registered Nurse who has worked over 20 years in women’s healthcare. Currently, I am a labor and delivery nurse working in a small, rural hospital in California.
Over the course of my career, I have helped over 2,000 women give birth in every setting from dirt floor to high-tech, high-risk hospital. Prior to becoming an RN, I was a lactation counselor and a doula.
I do have a couple of posts that I’ve written about birth, but these days I’m more interested in the other side of the female life cycle, peri- and post-menopause. This is the part of the blog where I write about all things vagina.
When it came to female problems my mother was a stoic. According to her, she never suffered from either a period cramp when she was a young woman, or a hot flash during menopause. And, truth be told, my mother looked down her nose at women who did. My mother’s approach to female problems was […]
On Tuesday, Ellen Dolgen and I had a lovely sit-down to talk about how women can get better care from their gynecologists. Ellen and I talked about: How to find a gynecologist (Yes, even if you have an HMO you have choice!) How to interview gynecologists (Yes, you get to interview them.) How to break […]
Have you ever walked out of your gynecologist’s office feeling like you didn’t get your questions answered? Are you not even sure what questions you should be asking? Would you like to break up with your doctor, but don’t know how? You are not alone! Many women feel this way. Earlier this month, menopause awareness […]
Disclaimer: This post deals with the adult topic of how to pleasure a woman. If you’re a man not into pleasuring your woman, or a woman not into being pleasured then that’s cool. (Although you need to know that I pity you.) How to Stay Married Ladies (and brave gentlemen), imagine my shocked delight, and, […]
“So how about that vaginal moisturizer review, huh? Where the hell is it, Chloe? You promised us a review of our product if we sent you a 10-day sample, and so far you’ve given us bupkis.“* All true. As a product-reviewer I suck. But Hyalo GYN®, the product I was given to review, doesn’t suck. […]
“Don’t you dare take out my ovaries! If I wake up without them, there will be hell to pay.” These were the last words I uttered on March 28th before the anesthesiogist injected the quieting milk of amnesia (aka propofol for you Michael Jackson fans) into my IV, thus sending me off to dreamland and […]
Dear Chloe, I have an embarrassing problem. I am 52, and have been happily married for 18 years. Lately my vagina seems drier than it used to be and, after sex, I’m having burning and a feeling of raw soreness. Is there something wrong with me, and what can I do about this? Signed, Parched […]
A couple of days ago I told you that I am going to undergo pelvic reconstruction surgery. Today I’m going to discuss this decision with you, indepth and personal. I’m going to talk about things that you might not want or need to know. That’s okay. Come back another time. ******** It is estimated that 30-40% […]
First of all: Have a Million Billion Bucks. ******** This last month or so has been a dizzying round of doctors’ appointments. I’m beginning to think that maybe my warranty is about to expire. Two weeks ago, I had to see the skin doctor because I had this strange bump on my face that wouldn’t […]
